LEAVENWORTH, IN (WFIE) - A 2-year-old Southern Indiana boy has died and an investigation is underway.

The Crawford County Sheriff's Office and Indiana State Police responded to a 911 call in Leavenworth late Monday night.

They say the child was having trouble breathing and was treated at the Leavenworth fire house and then flown to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville where he later died.

The young boy had been in the care of family friends.

An autopsy was completed Tuesday, however until the toxicology results are in no information about the autopsy will be released.

The child's name has not yet been released.
